Dr Dan Turo

“Chiropractic care from the womb to the tomb.”

Dr. Dan Turo’s fascination with the human body began with anatomy and physiology classes in high school. He fell in love with health care and considered a path in Physical Therapy, or maybe becoming a medical doctor, but Chiropractic care made the most sense to him.

He found the idea that the body is self-healing and self-regulating most appealing, as well as, most compatible with his own beliefs.

In his practice, Dr. Dan uses the Pierce Results System and has found it to be most successful for correctly analysing patients. Research has shown it to be one of the most efficient, effective ways to correct spine and nerve system function within the body. He employs it every day in his practice.

Dr. Turo believes in knowing everything about his patients and takes the time to understand every problem they may have had that affects their health. When a new patient visits for the first time, he performs a thorough background and history analysis. He has been told many times that it is the most complete history consultation the patient has ever received from a health care provider.

The initial consultation is just the first step, however. Next comes an infrared thermal scan, also part of the Pierce Results System. It consists of a high-profile temperature picture of the skin covering the spine and shows body temperature deviations. The temperature deviations alert him to stress in that area of the body so that it can be addressed.

He also utilizes standard X-ray, as well as, video fluoroscopy, a dynamic motion X-ray that provides a video of the spine in motion. This procedure illustrates alignment issues and clearly shows restrictions to spinal motion. It pinpoints the exact corrections that need to be made.

Dr. Dan makes a promise to every new patient,

“I’m going to help you in one way or another. Either I’m going to realize that I can help you, or I’m going to realize that I might not be the best practitioner for you. In that case, I will help you find someone, who is the right person to help you through your health challenge.”

Dr. Turo wants every one of his patients to feel they are the most important patient in his practice. He never wants a patient to feel like just another number or health insurance claim to be processed. He prides himself in being community oriented with a family driven practice. In fact, on many days, especially in the summer, patients will see his two children, 7-year-old Ethan and 3-year-old Sammy, in his office.

Because his children are there, he wants his patients to feel comfortable bringing their children along with them to their appointment.

He also enjoys working with children and not just their parents. In fact, frequently he begins working with a pregnant mother to optimize her health, to prepare her for the birth experience. Expectant mother’s that receive pre-natal care throughout their pregnancy experience a healthier labor and delivery with less stress on both mother and baby.

As Dr. Dan says, babies are under stress too.  Early on, from the birth experience to learning how to crawl and walk can all be stressful for the child. He loves to work with young children to give them the best chance for a healthy life, beginning at that young age.

By working with tots and young children, he can diagnose potential spinal issues and correct them before the child matures and develops more serious problems in their 30’s, 40’s or 50’s.

His motto:

“Chiropractic care from the womb to the tomb.”

It has been proven that correcting certain spinal issues can help cognitive function and brain fog in children. Improvement has been achieved for children diagnosed with concentration issues such as, A.D.H.D, Autism and Asperger Syndrome.

Parents are their children’s single most important health advocate. It is imperative that they educate themselves about health issues facing their children and determine the right course of treatment for them. Dr. Dan is willing to answer any question and help provide the information that will help that parent make an informed decision for their child’s wellbeing.

Dr. Dan walks the walk when it comes to spreading knowledge of a healthy life style throughout the community. He visits community health fairs, local businesses, as well as, other public gatherings to speak, and demonstrate the advantages of chiropractic care and good health.

He believes in a quote from B.J. Palmer, who developed the idea of chiropractic practice,

“You will never know how far-reaching something you think, say or do today, will affect the lives of millions tomorrow.”

Although Dr. Dan stays extremely busy with his practice, he finds time to spend with his family. Whether it’s a plane ride to Disney World, a drive over to the beach for a long weekend, a hike in the park, or just hanging out on the couch watching a movie, he and his wife, Erin, make time for family.

They are also involved in their church and have developed many lasting friendships. Just one more part of building a solid community.

Turo Family Chiropractic is located in the North Pittsburgh area, but his clients come from across the Midwest and travel as much as three hours to receive his care.
