Recently the Wizard of Oz movie was named the most influential film of all time. It was my favorite story growing up and I watched it every time it came on TV.
The story of The Wizard of Oz is universally known. It’s the story of four people on a quest for something each one already possessed but did not know. Together let’s take a journey on the Yellow Brick Road.
Like the four colorful characters, you also possess those same gifts and the same talents. You have a brain, courage and a heart. You have the ability to increase your brain power by always learning something new. You can increase your courage by doing what is right regardless of the disapproval of others. Courage and heart go hand in hand. Courage thrives on empathy and compassion, the qualities that make up the heart.
You always have within you the great powers of the brain and the heart and the courage to step into your greatest self. The things that you are naturally good at are your gifts. If singing and dancing or math or music or leadership come easily to you, that’s a gift. One of the marks of a gift is to have the courage to fulfill it.
Here are three things to keep in mind as you travel the Yellow Brick Road:
- Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain,
- there will be flying monkeys,
- know that you will have opportunities to bring your A Game to use your brain, courage and heart all at the same time.
