Why You Should Use Email Marketing

Email marketing is one of the most effective tools available today. It’s low cost and high impact. Marketing is about awareness and exposure. It isn’t how you will sell. However, if your goal is to be in front of your customers and prospects consistently, then email marketing is the way to go. I am not talking about the email you send from your Outlook or gmail. I’m talking about using an email platform like Mailchimp or Constant Contact.

Let’s talk about three reasons why email marketing is valuable.

  1. Design

With email marketing programs you can design your message with your brand colors and logo. You can use images and video to enhance your message. When your email is visually appealing it is more likely to be read.

This is something that can’t be easily achieved with regular email. Plain text is well, just plain boring. And if you add an attachment there’s a good chance it won’t be opened. There are too many virus threats out there for people to take the chance.

Email marketing allows you to create that flyer in the body of the email so the message has impact immediately upon opening the email.

  1. Delivery

When you use an email marketing program you are ensured that the majority of your emails will reach their destination. And you WON’T be accused of spamming. That’s because of how the program is set up. It can email thousands of people as if it were sending one at a time. If you tried to do this through your regular email, you’d get booted off for breaking the can-spam laws.

  1. Discovery

Email marketing programs are designed to provide you with analytics on just about every aspect of your email. You can track who opens it, who clicks on which links, and who opts out. You can also see which emails bounce so you can adjust them or delete them. When you can track the link clicks you can discover what people are interested in. This allows you to target your messages more directly to those people.

Some programs allow you to A/B test subject lines as well. This is a really valuable tool. You get to test out two different subject lines to see which is more appealing. This allows you to identify what motivates your subscribers to open an email.

Remember, if they don’t open it they’ll never receive the message you have for them.
