Keeping Your Immune System Strong!

Sometimes I feel like the COVID 19 virus is controlling our lives.  We see its evidence with stressed out medical systems and people in protective garb.  We hear about the updates and numbers of those affected.  We breathe through our masks which is a reminder of this hidden illness.  When all of these messages consume our day, it is difficult to remember that we do have control of how we wish to live and can take actions to protect and maintain a healthy immune system.

The following tips are suggestions to do for your everyday living:

  1. Begin your day by spending a few minutes to breathe. We have discussed breathing techniques in previous articles.  Take a few deep breaths – maybe even going outside in order to help ground and connect.  Take another few minutes and read an affirmation for the day or a scripture passage and reflect on its significance for you today.
  2. Consider using your essential oils to assist for immune balance. Lemon and Frankincense are known to support the immune system.  Rosemary and Clove function like antioxidants which help to supports our whole body. Peppermint and Rosemary can help us to stay focused and alert.  Use your oils in an inhaler so that is can be used wherever you are or diffuse one or a couple of these oils throughout your day.
  3. Many experts support using supplements not just during cold and flu season but all year round. Omegas, CoQ10 and Vitamin C are backed by research in benefits to our health and wellness.
  4. Stay positive! Find the gratitude in the simple pleasures like sunshine and listening to a child laughing.  It is easy to slip into the negative especially when it is what we see and listen to during our day.  It takes more energy to stay uplifted when there is so much distress.  Connect with those who are positive and smile – it does help make you feel better!  Also, find something to laugh about.  Even social media has had some clever clips that are very humorous.  Humor is a great immune booster!

These are a few quick ideas to keep your immune system be strong and in balance.
