Is Your Content All About You?

It’s time for it to go we, we, we all the way home!

When was the last time you read your website? Take a look at it now. Does it sound anything like this?

We are the leading company in the widget industry. We were formed over 20 years ago, and our widgets use innovative technology. We think you should buy our widgets because blah, blah, blah.

Well, I hate to tell you… no one cares! I like to call these sites “We” sites because they are packed with self-serving content. Potential customers, advertisers, new hires, investors, etc. do not want to hear about how great your business is. They want to know what’s in it for them!

In fact, your site may be turning away customers and sending them to the competition as you read this…Gulp!

Well, if you are guilty of having a “We” site, don’t worry.

It’s common among hundreds of other businesses out there. You just need to make changes as soon as possible. Yes, it will take time and resources. But, by fixing your content, you’ll see sales, customer relationships, search rankings, positive word-of-mouth, and more increase dramatically.

How do I get rid of my “We” content?

Here are a few tips to start:

  • Find Help.

If you are not a good writer and have no idea how to update your content, hire an experienced copywriter. They know how to write copy that your target market will respond to favorably. Plus, if your copywriter is trained in search engine optimization, they can ensure that your new content appears in the search rankings so potential customers can find you more easily online.

Usually, the more you pay for a copywriting expert, the better your results. It will cost some money, but it’s well worth it if you can spend more time on your core, business responsibilities.

  • Review.

Can’t hire a professional, SEO copywriter? No worries. Start with a review of all your content. Then, replace all of the language that talks about how great your business is, the boring features of your products and services and any “We’s” and “I’s” with valuable information your targeted audience members will care about.

Think about what’s in it for them including all of the benefits they receive, solutions to their problems, guarantees, resource savings, and more.

  • Keep It Simple.

As you edit your content, make it as easy as possible for potential customers to know what you have to offer them. Provide simple ways to buy, get answers, share information with friends, and more.

Also, ensure that your purchasing process is fast and seamless. Then, follow up with the appropriate confirmations and messaging to make customers feel at ease and confident about buying your products and services.

Send Your We, We We Site All The Way Home!

Right now, you may have horrible sales-oriented content that turns people away. But, if you hire an experienced copywriter, edit copy to focus on your customer’s desires and keep things smooth and simple, you can make positive changes happen fast. Remember, it’s all about them, and your “we” content needs to go!
