Are Your Pillars Strong Enough to Weather This Storm?

With the recent outbreak of the COVID 19 virus, businesses have had to make critical decisions with only days’ notice. Making these decisions are not easy. Companies with a solid foundation and stated core values looked to the pillars that are holding their company strong to weather this storm.

Core values define your culture – who you are and what you stand for. They define and drive who “the right people” are for your organization. These values will assist with hiring slow and firing fast. As a Solution Strategist, the first question I ask a client is what their core values are. If they must refer to a document filed away and cannot state them without a hesitation, this is the first opportunity where I can step in and assist. If the leaders of an organization are not following the foundation of their company, neither is the rest of the team.

Placing words on a poster in the lobby or on your web site does not constitute having core values if they are not being followed by all.

The other valuable tool using your core values is conducting reviews. As an EOS Implementor, we drive reviews using your core values and three questions. Does the employee get it, want it and have capacity for their work? It’s a simple process and used with every department leader on a quarterly basis. We firmly believe that addressing issues and opportunities on a regular basis will open a better line of communication and reduce harbored feelings between both the manager and their subordinates.

core valuesAt Get in Gear, our core values start with our foundation that WE C.A.R.E.
C=Communication A= Accountability R=Respect E=Educate We go further to express to our team what these values look like and what they don’t look like. We love using infographics to show a visual to really express the importance of why we exist, what we stand for and how we serve our clients.

Make the decision to drive your company based on the pillars you have built your business on. Cement your vision as your foundation so that everyone in your organization is 100% on the same page with why you exist, where you are going, and how you plan to get there. We firmly believe that successful organizations build their business on a healthy culture and their people grow the business!
