Emotional Soundtrack of Your Life

When we go to a movie or listen to a TV program, recorded music and various sounds are usually playing in the background. It’s called the movie’s soundtrack and it contains music and sounds that are synchronized to the images we watch. Did you ever consider the fact that your life has an emotional soundtrack too?

When we watch a movie, there are usually songs or lyrics that become highly recognizable and we easily remember the storyline when we hear them. There are usually strong emotions conveyed through the music and for many of us, play in our heads long after we first saw the movie or listened to the TV program.

When you reflect and notice your own experience, you will hear and see the emotional soundtrack for your own life.  Maybe you hear the loving tone of your own voice speaking sweetly to members of your family or to those with whom you work.  Or perhaps, the stress has been so high for you, that you can see that your emotional soundtrack is filled with overwhelm, distress, frustration.  Some of us hear it most loudly at 2 am when we would rather be sleeping, but the stress of the day interferes with our sleep.

You can change the emotional soundtrack of your life when you are able to discern what it is.  Instead of listening to a screeching, raucous, stressful soundtrack; pause and breathe slower and deeper than usual focusing your attention on your heartspace.  Breathe in “gratitude”, breathe out “ease”.  Take a small action step in a renewing direction and your life will get easier.

It works when you work it!
