Rochelle Forrest Hankins

Rochelle Forrest had a BIG Dream to help everyone, especially children understand their own uniqueness and realize the greatness they hold within.

“My belief, for many years, has been that one light can combine with two lights and more to illuminate the world in a community of light. My vision is that we can actually have a world, bathed in light, that works for all.”

Rochelle is a registered nurse and experienced in providing the compassion and understanding needed to return a body to health. In addition to, science and medicine, she has personally witnessed the inner strength necessary to completely heal the body. Her desire has been to tap into that “inner power” to help cure prejudice, bullying and other societal injustices, to bring a peace to everyone’s life.

“I prayed to God for direction. God’s answer was, ‘Shelly and the Circle of Light.’ A lasting symbol of light, Shelly is a humble little lightning bug, who doesn’t know she continuously shines, and can fly. Her journeys will help children, parents and even grandparents find their light to bring awareness to the world.”

Early on, Rochelle published the book “Re-Ignite Your Inner Light,” which can be read in less than two hours, but the message is an important one about being enough. From that, the children’s books evolved. Each story contains a lesson and helps children understand that they have the power within to help create a better world, as well as to help others find their light.

“Shelly is always amazed that a mere lightning bug can help create change. Why wouldn’t people want help?”

With the COVID pandemic gripping the world and children taken out of their normal routines and social interactions, Rochelle felt it was even more important to spread ‘Shelly’s Light’ to a larger audience.  Since television and video is such an important media outlet, she created a new children’s show, “BugHub.”

“Everyone is welcome in the “BugHub” to learn their superpowers and better understand the actions of others.”

Once the BugHub series is released, it will be a the weekly television series teaching children how to respond and react to unacceptable, or rude behaviors. One of the characters, named “22,” is distant and wants to dominate every situation. The other bugs don’t like him, but as we learn more, they realize that he was bullied as when he was young, which now affects the way he relates to others.

“Everyone must battle their own trials and tribulations. What I know for sure is we can’t become who we’re created to be, without some resistance.”

Rochelle also works to provide food, mental and spiritual help to resource-poor children through her foundation, ‘Tummies, Minds & Spirits.’

The goal of Tummies, Minds & Spirits is to create communities where children receive support to dream big and build extraordinary lives, permanently breaking the cycle of poverty by partnering with groups that already exist and the Just Be Kind! movement in Indianapolis, Indiana, to support sustainable change and community education and involvement.

“Tummies, Minds, & Spirits holistically transforms lives by providing learners with the necessary psycho-social skills to achieve their absolute best.”

Rochelle is also available to speak to groups, share her philosophy and spread her light.

“I see myself as work in progress searching for my higher light. I have been very disciplined, since, I had my first vision board at five years old that showed how I wanted to be a nurse, wife and a mother.”

Rochelle and her husband Paul, reside just outside of Indianapolis and enjoy an active life. She rises early every morning and spends meditative time with her first cup of coffee.

“I like to have one cup of coffee and prayer time with my husband. We confirm our written intentions to work for a higher purpose and then I like to read to get my mind in the proper place to face each day.”

As a working nurse, author, children’s television show creator, as well as, a wife and mother, Rochelle has more than enough to keep her busy. She is looking forward to being a grandmother and excitedly looking forward to the future.

“I want to work another 10 years, even though I will be eligible for Social Security in five years. Is it really work, if you are doing what you enjoy? I don’t see myself slowing down, I see myself expanding. The television series has taken a big effort, but after I reflect, I will be ready to dive into my next challenge. I want to create another book and am praying for guidance for my next 30 years.”

Whatever her next challenge, we know Rochelle will be using her vivacious personality as a holistic transformational coach, author and fund raiser to create more opportunities to improve the world around her and let her LIGHT SHINE.
