An “In the Clouds” Perspective of The Pumpkin Plan

If there’s ANY book out there that stops you in your tracks and makes you take inventory of everything you do in your business, it’s one of my favorites, “The Pumpkin Plan” by Michael Michalowicz. Why? Because his concept, although shockingly straightforward, is a powerful one for ANY business, especially MSPs who want to grow and become more profitable in the marketplace. It’s all about planting the right seeds, watering them as often as possible, and continuously weeding out the less promising pumpkins that are still on the vine.

He talks about one incredibly common occurrence virtually all entrepreneurs face at some point or another… They get caught up in a never-ending cycle of “sell it – do it – sell it – do it” that leaves them exhausted, frustrated, and unable to get ahead. It feels like you’re working constantly but there’s not much to show from it. Essentially, we become so focused on the negative clients that steal all of our energy and focus that we don’t have much time left for the good clients who can truly make a difference in our businesses.

Here at CPU, we’re part of a peer group that’s been studying the concepts in this book for the past several months, and I couldn’t help but stop and think, the concepts truly do apply to technology within businesses too. After all, don’t we ALL have systems and software that end up taking up all of our time? Our money? Our energy?

In the end, these systems and software often don’t give back as much as we put into them. That’s where we can “pumpkin plan” our technology! The idea is simple… If you plant the right seeds (cloud servers) and eliminate the less promising pumpkins (on-premises servers), you’re able to grow a much more fruitful environment.

How does it work? MSPs that choose to eliminate on-premises equipment as much as possible, and instead, sell cloud services will save their technicians a ton of time and energy. They can expand their customer base without the need to hire and train more technicians – creating more MRR than ever before.

CPU, Inc. makes it easy for MSPs looking to “pumpkin plan” the way they manage technology. You can sell the cloud as a stand-alone service or bundle it into your managed services plan at an added cost. Either way, you’re minimizing the time and effort that goes into maintenance while adding a significant amount of recurring revenue.

We give you a discount on the service you resell and you’re able to resell that service for as much as you’d like. Is there anything better than lowering the workload for you – all while increasing the profitability? I didn’t think so.
