SOAR TO SUCCESS / Book Recommendation Atomic Habits: An Easy & Proven Way to Build Good Habits & Break Bad Ones By James Clear In Atomic Habits, James Clear provides every aspect involved in forming new habits, breaking old ones and transforming your life for long-term success. He believes atomic habits are small 1% improvements in behavior that, over time compound into full- blown behavior changes and positive habits. That’s very appealing, isn’t it? Clear has identified four stages of habit formation: the cue, the craving, the response and the reward. The cue triggers the brain to notice an opportunity for a reward or pleasure, the craving is the emotional attachment to the cue, the response is your behavior or habit performed to get the desire you want, and the reward is the satisfaction gained from the action taken. The book is divided up by these four aspects of habit formation. I really like how he uses the same system to break bad habits. Cue – make it invisible; craving – make it unattractive; response – make it difficult; reward – make it unsatisfying. I also liked the way he included true stories from Olympic gold medalists, award-winning artists, business lead- ers, life-saving physicians, and star comedians who have used the science of small habits to master their craft and vault to the top of their field. If they can do it, we can do it too, right? This book is enjoyable to read.
