Soar to Success December 2020

SOAR TO SUCCESS / Core Business Strategies • Schedule “me” time. When you have a busy schedule, it can be so easy to rush from one activity to the next without taking a break. You go to work, take the kids to wherever they need to be, get groceries, prepare meals, do laundry, etc. When nightfall comes, you collapse on your bed, exhausted. Sound familiar? Well instead, why not stop this madness and schedule some time for you? Block space in your calendar to do some kind of activity away from your office (walk the dog, take an exercise class with a friend, get a massage, read a book)... whatever you like to do that gives you a moment to relax, breathe and clear your head. • Get help. When you look at your “To Do” list, deep down you probably know that there is no way you can complete everything on it. Well, instead of running around trying to finish everything and missing out on valuable sleep hours, why not ask for help? Maybeyoucanhirean intern, freelancer or part-time employee? Perhaps you can give your kids some extra chores to do or ask family and friends to help you with shopping and odd jobs? It may cost a little extra money for this assistance, but it will be well worth it. The work will get done, and you’ll avoid spreading yourself too thin (and possibly getting sick). Don’t let the holidays pass you by… This is a very special time of year to appreciate what you have, spend time with loved ones and enjoy life. But if you are stuck behind your desk, up late worrying about work or sick in bed, the season (and all of the fun and cherished memories that come with it) will pass you by in a flash. Instead, make a schedule that includes your priorities and “me time,” and stick to it. And if you find that you are just overwhelmed with all the things you have to do, ask for help. Then, you can get your work done, actually relax a bit AND enjoy the holiday season! Happy Holidays!
