words have power

Have you ever thought about the power of your words and how they can affect your health, business and even life in general?  Let’s take a look at power words to use and to avoid for your success.

Do you remember the sayings, what goes around comes around?  Or be careful what you pray for, you just might get it?  Do you know of statements people made and it became a reality?  A friend of mine shared that he tripped and broke his toe.  He wondered what was going on in his life to make him stumble.  He became aware of his language and a frequent phrase, “Oh give me a break!”  Now, I am sure many of us have made this or similar statements.  But have you ever wondered what you are creating or manifesting for yourself?

There is a lot written and even researched on the topic of word power.  Among the writers are well known authors, Larry Dossey, MD who wrote Healing Words and Wayne Dyer who wrote the Power of Intention.

Recently, I came across a new concept about language defined by Kurt Schnaubelt, PhD in his book, Medical Aromatherapy – Healing with Essential Oils.  He identifies language as masculine and feminine.  Regarding illness and disease, our society speaks from a masculine perspective.  For example, “developing a new weapon against ..”, “killing germs”, “the war on cancer” and so on.  He describes this as violent language.  It takes a lot of energy to do actions of creating weapons, waging war and so forth.

What does this language do for the concept of healing?  I am not sure but it sounds rather depleting! Instead of tearing down a system, why not focus on building or supporting a system?  Schnaubelt believes that holistic models have a more feminine perspective.  Modalities such as aromatherapy, meditation, energy work, use more of a Hygieian principle of strengthening and nurturing.  This language includes “to build up”, “support” or “strengthen”.  Many of these therapies actually identify their purpose as being one to support the system of the body, mind and spirit; to aid the body’s natural healing abilities.

Much of what we apply to our lifestyle flows over into our business.  What is your focus?  Are you on the attack, working hard, every man/woman for themselves?  Wow, that sounds exhausting.

Instead consider words such as collaboration, support and creating which build up people and systems.  So, what words are you manifesting, creating for your health, your business, your life?
